BENIGN IDIOPATHIC INFANTILE MASTURBATION: A CASE REPORT OF SEIZURE MIMICKING IN A 3-YEAR-OLD INFANT

Background: Benign idiopathic infantile masturbation (infantile dyskinesia) or also known as gratification disorder is a rare abnormal paroxysmal movement that occurs in children between 3 months and years old. This characterized by self-stimulation of the genitalia associated with unusual posturing movements. Therefore, it could mimic seizure.2 The diagnosis this may be perplexing scarcely reported. Case Findings: We reported old infant behavior rocking thrusting movements accompanied erection clear secretion from his penis. episodes were described hip knee flexion towards abdomen, plantar toes, extension elbows, clenched fists, always occurred while lying bed. Physical neurological examination showed normal results. electroencephalogram (EEG) was within limits hence done to exclude seizure diagnosis. Parents then educated child now does not show any previous behavior. Conclusion: harmless journals commonly mistaken seizure. It presents typical clinical characteristics found females.
